"God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Tithing is an act of gratitude, faith and stewardship. Everything we possess comes from God, and giving back a portion acknowledges His providence while supporting the mission of the Church and helping those in need.
The Catholic Church teaches that the faithful have the duty to provide for the material needs of the Church according to their abilities.
Giving to the Church supports evangelization, charity, liturgy, clergy formation, and care for the poor.
